Ultrasonography of the Equine Distal Limb - Lectures & Practical Sessions

(14.03.2013) This course on Friday 10. May, 2013 has been developed to provide delegates with the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills of distal limb ultrasound image acquisition and interpretation. 

It is suitable for vets from mixed or equine practice who are keen to further develop their equine ultrasonography expertise, be it as a new graduate or as a vet who has some experience with ultrasonography.  This course covers the following topics (in English with Czech translation & German moderation):

  • Basics of ultrasonography, including how to set up your machine to achieve highest quality images
  • The normal ultrasonographic anatomy and appearance of conditions affecting the
  • Flexor tendons
  • Suspensory ligament
  • Digital flexor tendon sheath & Palmar/plantar annular ligament
  • Pastern region

In the afternoon, a 4 hour practical session will give delegates plenty of opportunity to put theory into practice on live horses and to ask questions in small groups (3-5 people per group), all under the supervision of specialists.  The course fee includes lunch, coffee/tea breaks, extensive course notes and a certificate of attendance.  Early course registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available.
