UK: 80% Of Veterinary Students Are Female

(07.06.2004) Traditionally, the veterinary profession has been dominated by males but a gender shift, reflecting the ever increasing numbers of girls going into higher education, last year resulted in women accounting for almost 80% of all UK veterinary undergraduate students.

Figures from the Universities And Colleges Admissions Service, (UCAS) show that whereas 280 men applied for UK veterinary courses last year they were massively outnumbered by 1,102 women applicants.
